Creators 7th day not Saturday

Dear all

some people are confusing mana beginning with day one of the week, just because God started mana on the 16th day Israelites were to collect it but on the 6th day they were to collect double, again people assume contrary to bible that Israelites did not know when was 7th day and that is very very wrong and it contradicts the bible. God told Moses and Aaron and through them which was day one and which was first month, he told them which is 10th day and he told them which was 14th day and he emphasised which was 15th day of the first month and of the second month, so how can someone assume that Israelites did not know abot God’s 7th day until mana came?

Please set me straight if i am wrong quoting scripture

THE CREATOR'S 7TH DAY: A TORAH-BASED DOCTRINAL PAPER

I. INTRODUCTION

This paper presents a precise doctrinal interpretation of the Creator's 7th-day Sabbath based strictly on the Torah (Genesis to Deuteronomy), excluding Roman and rabbinic traditions. It will demonstrate that the biblical Sabbath is lunar-based, reckoned from dusk to dusk, and not a perpetual 7-day cycle as promoted by post-biblical institutions.

II. THE 7TH DAY ESTABLISHED AT CREATION

Genesis 2:2–3: "And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."

  • The 7th day is unique—it is the only day declared holy.

  • The term "seventh" is ordinal, not a name; it is counted, not titled.

  • No cycle is commanded at creation. The concept of repeating weeks is absent until Exodus.

III. DAY RECKONING IN TORAH: DUSK TO DUSK

Leviticus 23:32: "From evening unto evening, shall ye celebrate your sabbath."

  • This instruction confirms a day begins at evening, not at sunrise or midnight.

  • "Evening" (Hebrew: erev) encompasses the period between the evenings (Hebrew: bein ha'arbayim), typically understood as dusk.

IV. THE MOON'S ROLE IN BIBLICAL TIMEKEEPING

Genesis 1:14: "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons [mo'edim], and for days, and years."

Psalm 104:19: "He appointed the moon for seasons [mo'edim]."

  • The Hebrew word mo'edim means appointed times. These include Sabbaths and feast days.

  • The moon is explicitly given to regulate mo'edim, not the sun.

Leviticus 23:2–3: "These are the feasts [mo'edim] of YHWH… Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest."

  • The weekly Sabbath is listed with other mo'edim.

  • Therefore, it too is regulated by the moon's cycle.

V. THE RESETTING OF TIME IN EXODUS 12

Exodus 12:1–2: "This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you."

  • God resets the calendar and establishes a new reference point.

  • This overrides any previous reckoning from Eden to Egypt.

  • The people already knew how to count days and weeks.

Clarification Regarding Manna (Exodus 16):

  • The giving of manna does not determine which day is the 7th day.

  • Manna was first given on the 16th day of the first month, following the evening appearance of quail on the 15th.

  • Exodus 16:4–5 explicitly shows that before manna was given, God told Moses: “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven… and on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”

  • This proves that the Israelites already knew which day was the 6th, and by extension, which was the 7th day (Sabbath).

  • The Sabbath was not revealed for the first time here—it was already understood. God used the manna cycle as a test of obedience, not as a calendar tutorial.

  • Therefore, it is incorrect to suggest that the 22nd day of the month was necessarily the Sabbath.

  • The Torah already had demonstrated the structure of a week—Day 1 through Day 7—prior to this event. The Israelites followed this established week, which would have aligned the 7th day of that week with the 21st, not the 22nd.

Manna and Weekly Alignment (Days 15–22 of the Month):

Date (Nisan)Day of the WeekEvent
151st DayQuail arrives at evening
162nd DayManna begins
173rd DayManna continues
184th DayManna continues
195th DayManna continues
206th DayManna continues
217th DaySabbath – no manna
221st DayNew week begins; no leftover manna found

VI. LUNAR SABBATH CYCLE IN THE TORAH

The Torah does not recognise the Roman concept of a 29.5-day month with variable-length weeks. Rather, it maintains a perfect and divine structure of four complete weeks of seven days—days 1 to 28. Each of the Sabbaths (7th, 14th, 21st, 28th) aligns with a distinct lunar phase. The only reason Roman calendar has 29.5 or 30 days is because of 24 hour system which does not fit with God's Lunar creation and its timely purpose.

To maintain this system without ever introducing transitional or extra days (like a 29th or 30th), each day in the Creator’s calendar must be slightly longer than the Roman 24-hour day. This is consistent with the Torah’s dusk-to-dusk reckoning and ensures the Sabbaths remain fixed in alignment with the moon’s visible phases.

  • The biblical day is approximately 25 hours and 18.78 minutes long—roughly 5.48% longer than the Roman 24-hour system.

  • This extended day length harmonises the 28-day lunar month with the lunar phases and the Torah’s week structure.

This fits precisely with:

  • Exodus 12: Passover (14th) occurs on a Sabbath evening, beginning of the 15th.

  • Leviticus 23: The 15th day of the 1st and 7th months are feast days following Sabbaths (14th).

VII. NO EVIDENCE FOR AN UNBROKEN 7-DAY CYCLE

  • The Torah never teaches a perpetual 7-day cycle from Creation to Moses.

  • The calendar given to Moses is observational, based on New Moons and I am certain it was the same at creation as God does not change.

  • Rabbinic and Roman systems later introduced continuous cycles, diverging from Torah.

VIII. DUSK, HOURS, AND THE DIVISION OF TIME

  • Time in Torah is divided by dusk markers, not mechanical hours.

  • Exodus 12:6 commands the Passover lamb to be killed between the evenings—the same interval that marks day transitions.

  • Torah festivals begin at even (e.g., Exodus 12:18).

IX. CONCLUSION: THE CREATOR'S 7TH DAY

According to the Torah:

  1. The 7th day is sanctified and separate, but not tied to a perpetual cycle but tied to moon cycle.(Please note if we were worshipping according to moons cycles then it would not matter as it would be perpetual 4 7th day between new moons)

  2. Days begin at dusk, and this governs all calendar structure.

  3. The moon was created to regulate all appointed times (mo'edim), including the weekly 7th day Sabbath.(emphasis being 7th day)

  4. Exodus 12 resets time for Israel; the Sabbath follows lunar phases.

  5. Sabbaths fall on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th days of each lunar month—never interrupted by extra transitional days, as there should be none if Creator's timing is adhered to.

  6. To reconcile a 28-day weekly cycle with lunar reality, each biblical day exceeds the Roman 24-hour day by about 5.48%, equating to approximately 25.32 hours.

  7. The idea of a fixed Saturday Sabbath comes from Roman and Jewish post-Torah tradition.(refer to Jewish encyclopedia Hillel the II)

The Creator's 7th day is not found in the Gregorian week—it is found in the heavens, where He placed His signs and seasons.

**"Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts [mo'edim] of the Lord... Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest." — Leviticus 23:2–3, Please note Leviticus clearly puts emphasis on seventh day which is the sabbath rest day, God blessed and Sanctified 7th day and as part of that Sanctification sabbath rest is the product of. Unfortunately, Christianity has created Saturday and it is all about Saturday and not the 7th day, many assume Saturday is 7th day and under Roman creation it is correct but it is not according to God's creation.
